Our course asks graduate students in the Museology program to consider ...
What is your role in actively and intentionally cultivating an experience that evokes awe and wonder within the museum space? How do you do that?! Balancing time between the classroom and the museums of Seattle, we explore the art of group facilitation as a vehicle to sense-making and authentic problem solving.
Kim and Mirka were supportive whenever we were giving presentations and leading facilitations. It felt pretty low stakes in terms of what could go wrong, which I felt led to more exploration and taking risks.
I appreciated the warm and welcoming environment that Mirka and Kim are so adept at creating. It takes a lot of vulnerability and bravery to do this work, and
Mirka and Kim made sure that we always felt comfortable and supported in doing it. I have never had an experience in academia that was so uplifting! It reinvigorated my love of education and learning.
In 2024 -2025 we were honored to support the new Learning Guides and Museum Look With Me Volunteers as they skilled up for enaging visitors of all ages and experiences.
